Uber Launches 'Caregiver' Service to Simplify Daily Tasks for Caregivers
The AARP estimates more than 53 million people in the US are caregivers. A new service called Uber Caregiver aims to simplify the daily tasks of caregiving, offering one central place to arrange transportation, groceries, and over-the-counter (OTC) item deliveries.
Both Uber rideshares and Uber Eats meal deliveries are considered eligible expenses under some health plans. With Uber Caregiver, caregivers can arrange rides to appointments, track each ride's route and progress through the app, and apply healthcare benefits as the form of payment.
Uber Caregiver also plans to release a feature allowing caregivers to manage the restocking of essential grocery and household items to be delivered direct to the doorstep.
